The Truth About #Iran’s #Evin Prison

Image
Jul 20, 2017 Heshmat Alavi  ,   Two months have passed since the May presidential “elections” in Iran that saw the incumbent Hassan Rouhani reach a second term. The pro-Iran appeasement camp in the West went the distance to raise hopes over the hoax of Rouhani rendering major reforms. These voices somehow described Rouhani as a “reformist” and completely neglected the over 3,000 executions during his first term as president. Reports from across the country are turning out to be very disturbing, signaling more troubling times to come in reference to human rights violations. As fellow Forbes contributor Ellen R. Wald reported, “On July 16, news came out that an American graduate student at Princeton University named Xiyue Wang had been sentenced to 10 years in an Iranian prison for ‘espionage.’” This is Iran again resorting to old tactics of taking Westerners as hostage, mainly dual citizens, to be used as bargaining chips in advancing objectives and politics in ...

2 years into #nuclear deal, #US policy on #Iran needs major makeover #freeiran #pmoi

BY ALI SAFAVI, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR 07/17/17 July marks the second anniversary of the nuclear agreement between the Iranian regime and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council plus Germany. Former U.S. President Barack Obama envisioned the agreement — known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — as a potential starting point for a broader rapprochement between the ruling theocracy and the West. Obama had insisted that with Hassan Rouhani as the regime’s “moderate” president, Tehran would begin to exhibit a more positive behavior. Now, in his second term in office, the promise of moderation under Rouhani’s leadership has proven empty. That is because Rouhani neither wants nor is capable of reform. After all, it is not the president but the supreme leader who defines the contours of the regime’s short-term and long-term strategic direction. That the possibility of moderation in the Iranian theocracy is a total delusion was reflected in Secretary of Defens...

THE United States fears what one country will do even more than North Korea, an adviser to President Donald Trump has warned. Rudy Giuliani, the ex-Mayor of New York, warned Iran is the country’s biggest fear right now.  By Rachel O'Donoghue / Published 16th July 2017 Speaking after a conference in Paris earlier this month, he said the nation poses a greater threat than both Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin. Mr Giuliani was attending a rally in Paris organised by the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI) , which is the largest and most active opposition movement to the regime. The Paris-based group supports a totally secular political system in the hardline Islamic country. Thanks to digital memory cards, he was able to save photos that was forbidden t...

#Iran Dominates in #Iraq After #U.S. ‘Handed the Country Over’

Image
By TIM ARANGO JULY 15, 2017 BAGHDAD — Walk into almost any market in Iraq and the shelves are filled with goods from Iran — milk, yogurt, chicken. Turn on the television and channel after channel broadcasts programs sympathetic to Iran.A new building goes up? It is likely that the cement and bricks came from Iran. And when bored young Iraqi men take pills to get high, the illicit drugs are likely to have been smuggled across the porous Iranian border. And that’s not even the half of it. Across the country, Iranian-sponsored militias are hard at work establishing a corridor to move men and guns to proxy forces in Syria and Lebanon. And in the halls of power in Baghdad, even the most senior Iraqi cabinet officials have been blessed, or bounced out, by Iran’s leadership. When the United States invaded Iraq 14 years ago to topple Saddam Hussein, it saw Iraq as a potential cornerstone of a democratic and Western-facing Middle East, and vast amounts of blood and treasure — about 4,500 Amer...

Updated on July 14, 2017  By Lucas Ropek BOSTON - Sayed Mohsen Dehnavi, a 31-year-old Iranian cancer researcher who had planned to relocate to Massachusetts to work at Boston Children's Hospital was detained and ultimately denied entry to the U.S. at Logan International Airport on Monday. Dehnavi, who had traveled from Iran with his wife and three children, arrived in Boston at the start of the week but was "deemed inadmissible to the U.S. based on information discovered during the CBP inspection."
